“House on Fire” by Asking Alexandria

By this point in time we know that some rock tunes can be deceptively deep. The lyrics may sound repetitive to the unfocused air. But the song itself can even be speaking to some type of universal truth or philosophy. And at the end of the day, one of the best ways to describe “House on Fire” is as it being criticism of self-complacency. In other words – and again the metaphors are quite deep here – the titular “house”, based on this understanding, would ultimately be symbolic of the limitations one puts on him or herself.  Thus it being “on fire” likewise symbolizes such restrictions being cast down.

Moreover it can be deduced that the singer views such as the ideal path for one to pursue, although he doesn’t seem to actually give any opinions. That is to say that a person has to make a hard, conscientious effort, as in “give more than you’ve got to give”, in order to reach this goal. Moreover once the house is actually burnt, a person can ‘turn to all he can be’. So striped down to its most-basic classifications, “House on Fire” is actually an inspirational, self-improvement tune.
