“House on Fire” by Mimi Webb

The lyrics of Mimi Webb’s “House on Fire” are not necessarily the easiest to comprehensively understand, though the thesis sentiment is pretty clear. The latter revolves around the vocalist intending to get vengeance against her boyfriend due to him cheating on her. But as far as where some of the confusion may set in, it appears she is relaying the actual verses from his perspective, not her own. And in that regard, she presents her lover as someone who has and will go all out in the name of not letting Mimi discover that he has been unfaithful.

But discovered she has, with the implication being that dude already knew beforehand that she was someone not to be trifled with as so. So now Mimi has decided to go and set dude’s “house on fire”, apparently being inspired by the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in that regard. Or the way the vocalist sees it, this is the addressee’s punishment for lying to her face.

Mimi Webb is a singer from the UK who came out with her first studio album, “Seven Shades of Heartbreak”, in 2021 – a project which made it onto the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. And “House on Fire”, which was issued on 18 February, is the first of her songs to be released during 2022.

The music video to House on Fire was directed by an artist known as KLVDR.
