The singer goes on to encourage her listeners to pursue their dreams relentlessly. In doing so, she further encourages them to strive to become the best and shine their inner light for the world to see.

The song ends with Fantasia concluding that love, as well as self-belief, contributes to lifting a person to the highest of heights.

Facts about “I Believe”

Fantasia released this powerful track in June 2004. It was subsequently included in her maiden studio album dubbed “Free Yourself”.

Fantasia didn’t write this song. It was composed by Tamyra Gray, alongside Louis Biancaniello, and Sam Watters.

Upon its release, “I Believe” wasted no time in occupying the top position at its first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100.

In its first week, it broke the record for the most sales of a single within the week it was released. It ended the year with over half-a-million sales in America.

It also performed well in Canada and recorded high sales in the country as well. In addition to that, it peaked at the summit of the Canadian Singles Chart.

That same year, the song was able to break into the top 5 in Australia.

At the 2004 edition of the Billboard Music Awards, the song won two major awards, namely:

  • “Top Selling R&B/Hip-Hop Single of the Year”
  • “Top Selling Single of the Year”

Without a shadow of doubt, this was Fantasia’s breakthrough single.
