Jenny of Oldstones is actually a historical character within the fictional universe of the “Game of Thrones”, a popular television series. What this means is that she does not actually make an appearance on the show. Instead she is mentioned in some of the books “Game of Thrones” is based on, most-notably in this case – George R. R. The Song

This song by Florence + the Machine serves a specific purpose within the context of that book. As for its meaning, it is said to be derived from the narrative of the titular character whom a king forsook his throne in order to marry since she was a commoner.

However, the lyrics themselves are not specifically based on that event. Instead they portray Jenny as somewhat of a lonely character who is consumed by “sorrow and pain”. And according to the lyrics, her companions, as in the ones who help her to deal with these negatives emotions and whom she “would dance” with, are actually “ghosts”, not other people. Her loneliness was probably attributable to the fact that she was not accepted by her husband’s family.

Ultimately Jenny of Oldstones is a unique character in a world full of unique characters. And while she does not play a prominent role in the “Game of Thrones” series, apparently her song ties into the show’s final season in such a way that the producers decided it should be highlighted. This was apparently so important to the producers that they even enlisted the rare help of professional musicians to do so.
