Kelsea Ballerini’s “Miss Me More” Lyrics Meaning

“Miss Me More” is a self-empowerment track with a twist. The story is founded in a breakup, as in Kelsea plays the role of someone whose romance has sadly collapsed. This relationship was marked by her self-sacrificing attempts to please her man. For example, she wouldn’t wear certain things because he didn’t like them. She also lost contact with her friends as a result of the relationship.

She apparently sacrificed all these things because she thought she loved the guy, as in she would be hurt when he left. In contrast, now that the relationship has indeed ended, she realizes she doesn’t miss him but rather misses herself more. In other words, she can’t wait to go back to being the person she was before she transformed herself to satisfy this guy.

So Kelsea has decided to once again start doing the things she personally enjoys, such as blasting her favorite music. In the end, she can’t believe that she surrendered her own independence in order to please that guy. She also concludes that such was his intent all along, to make her lose herself. In fact she doesn’t seem to actually miss any aspect of being with him at all. Rather she is dedicated to realizing the person she was before this unfruitful relationship.
