“Love Tonight” by Shouse

Although the line that makes up the chorus of this track, “all I need is your love tonight”, reads like one you would commonly hear in a love song, this time around such is not the case. Rather, as better revealed in the verses, this is a song of friendship and support.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Shouse's Love Tonight at Lyrics.org.

More to the point it features a certain individual(s), that being the vocalist, assuring a loved one, the addressee, that s/he will hold him or her down when they’re “tired”, “lonely” or “feeling like there’s nothing at all”.

In other words, during trying times, the addressee does not have to suffer alone. This is because he is blessed to possess unwavering support in the form of the vocalist.

Or as Shouse has explained it, this track is based on the “the idea of being there for one another”.

So we would classify “Love Tonight” primarily as a friendship song and even beyond that one in which the vocalist at least appears very much committed to the relationship at hand.

Shouse's Ed Service explains "Love Tonight"

Shouse

Shouse is a duo of musicians from Australia. The duo consists of Jack Madin and his partner, Ed Service. They’ve been making music professionally since 2018. So far, they have dropped a couple of EPs – 2017’s Openshouse 3 and 2018’s Into It – as well as a handful of singles.

“Love Tonight”

Their last single to date, would be “Love Tonight”, which came out via two labels, Onelove and Hell Beach, on 14 December 2017. It is also the only hit Shouse has ever come out with and did in fact prove to be a major global phenomenon, charting in over 20 nations overall, including breaking the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs list stateside. Additionally, “Love Tonight” has thus far been certified gold in Italy.

Contributing to this song’s international renown is the fact that it has been remixed by a number of DJs around the world, including David Guetta, whose cut contributed to the song blowing up in Europe.

In fact even though this track, as noted earlier, came out in 2017, it didn’t actually start charting, as a result of said remixes, until 2021.

Love Tonight

As alluded to earlier by the fact that they haven’t dropped any songs in years, the Shouse boys, who hail from the Land Down Under, actually have professions outside of music. Jack Madin works as a music teacher in a primary school, and Ed Service is concurrently employed by an NGO called Collingwood Yards.

According to Ed Service, the vocalists on this track are “just a big group of amateur singers and some of Melbourne’s underground music stars of the time”. More specifically, they would be Tony Barnao, Daisy Catterall, Christobel Elliot, Maia, Mohini, Monte Morgan, Bec Rigby and Oscar Key Sung.
