“I’m Good (Blue)” by David Guetta & Bebe Rexha

The word “blue” is not actually found in the lyrics of “I’m Good (Blue)”. Rather, the reason this song is subtitled so would apparently be because it relies on the sample of an older track which is titled “Blue“.

Or theoretically, it can be suggested that perhaps premise-wise, Bebe is taking on the role of a depressed character. This is someone who may be feeling blue, since said color is often used to symbolize melancholy. But more to the point of what’s being put forth, the singer is making a conscientious effort to enjoy this particular night of clubbing, alongside presumably a romantic interest or close friends, considering that she refers to the addressee as “baby”.

Or in other words, on the surface, at least to some people, the vocalist may not have any reason to celebrate. For instance, she’s not privileged enough to enjoy the VIP lounge, as some may idealize. And the implication, considering that she asserts a lack of “need” for “the finer things in life”, is that perhaps she’s going through some type of financial hardship.

But this evening, Bebe is casting all of such cares aside. Instead her focus, once again alongside the addressee, is to ‘have the best f—ing night of her life’.  That is what is meant by the titular expression “I’m good”. Put simply, the vocalist is in such an uplifted mood that she’s “down for whatever” her companion wants to do during this evening of partygoing in the name of fully enjoying it.

The Collaboration

Bebe Rexha has a collaboration history with David Guetta. She participated on two tracks from “Listen”, an album he came out with in 2014, in addition to teaming up with Guetta a couple of times since.

The Release of “I’m Good (Blue)”

“I’m Good” was officially released on 26 August 2022, primarily through Warner UK. But Guetta first made it known well before that, at an event called the Ultra Music Festival 2017 which was held during its titular year. And it seems that by the looks of things, there were not any plans to formally release this track – that is until it suddenly went viral circa early-August, 2022.

The Credits

This song is widely being recognized as the remake of an old Europop tune titled “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”, which was put out by an Italian outfit called Eiffel 65 in 1999. So the members of that clique who wrote the track – Jeffrey Jey, Maury and Massimo Gabutti – are also credited as writers of “I’m Good (Blue)”, with its other authors being:

  • Plested
  • Kamille
  • Bebe Rexha
  • David Guetta

It is Guetta who produced this track with Timofey Reznikov.

The Hit

“I’m Good” proved itself to be a hit, especially in Europe, way beyond TikTok, where it has charted in no less than a dozen nations, including Australia. And to note, this track scored within the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart as well as UK Dance Chart and proved to be an actual chart topper in Norway.

It should not have a swear word in it so that’s why you created the clean version you should have created the swear word.
