Meaning of “comethru” by Jeremy Zucker

“comethru” is a song Jeremy Zucker wrote while spending days secluded in his parents’ basement during the summer of 2018. Accordingly during this period he suffered from loneliness. As such this track is based on his desire for someone to ‘come through’ and spend some time with him. And he doesn’t necessarily mean a girlfriend but any friend in general. And he is not requesting anything from this person except that they arrive and keep him company.

Indeed Jeremy finds himself ‘exhausted’ and ‘lost in his own imagination’. This is partially due to the fact that he is not spending his days in the basement idly. Rather he is on the grind around the clock, composing songs like the one you are currently reading about. In fact he is so committed to this endeavor that, as the beginning of the song insinuates, he has messed up his sleep cycle.

Part of Jeremy’s angst is also due to a general boredom he feels as a result of being back in his “hometown” after spending some time away at college. As such he is not particularly compelled to go outside. Accordingly he finds himself faced with the same dilemma of being stuck at home and desiring someone to come through.

Ultimately Jeremy begins to realize that isolation is not ideal. But this realization alone will not solve his problem. Owing to this, the song ends basically as it began, with him appealing for a friend to come over for a visit for no other purpose than enjoying his or her company.
