It has been noted that as of this writing, just a few days after “Your Bones” was officially dropped, the song has already garnered a notable TikTok following (as made possible by the fact that Chelsea had been teasing for some weeks prior).

Cutler co-wrote this track with its producers, Kevin White and Joel Little. In the process, she noted that “love songs aren’t’ generally (her) forte” but that “these words just felt like the most easy and truthful way to describe (her) relationship”.

Chelsea also went on to explain that, under her interpretation, the lyrics can also speak to various other types of love, including “self-love or love for a pet”.

Lyrics of “Your Bones”

Throughout the lyrics, the exact nature of the relationship between the vocalist and addressee is never specified. But that said, it’s pretty obvious that what these lyrics speak to is falling in love, i.e. that of a romantic variety.

It’s normal to also have strong feelings for others in our lives, such as family members, besties and even pets. But the way the vocalist for instance celebrates feeling like a new, better person as a result of this relationship or how she has concluded that it was fated to be definitely gives the impression that Cutler has finally found that special someone.

As for the title/chorus, it is based on a pretty simple metaphor. Basically Chelsea is loving the addressee ‘down to their bones’. That’s another way of saying that her feelings for this person are deep and holistic. These feelings are so deep that she loves every part of him, i.e. his entire being.

And no, we’re not trying to suggest that the usage of the word ‘bone’ is meant to point to a particular feature of the male anatomy. But as implied in the chorus, there is a sexual element to what’s being put forth also.

“‘Cause I love you, down to your bones
Naked and afraid, they tell me that’s when you know
I feel you, taking me home
Dusk until thе dawn, you’re where I wanna go”
