“My Camera Never Lies” by Bucks Fizz

The role of the titular “camera” is more symbolic than literal, if literal at all. And the concept which this device apparently alludes to somehow is the addressee being under observation of the singer. And the reason this is so is because they are close to each other, feasibly being in a romantic relationship.

Beyond that, the lyrics become even more challenging to decipher. But what seems to be going down is that their relationship is on the rocks. Or perhaps more accurately it can be presumed that the addressee has lost interest in the singer. And operating along that same line of logic, the phrase “my camera never lies” seemingly points to the notion of the singer coming to grips with that reality, perhaps even possessing some type of evidence in that regard.

So in putting all of these ideas together, in the name of making sense of “My Camera Never Lies”, we can conclude that maybe the singer has caught his or her lover cheating, or something of the sort. And maybe said lover is denying such. But the singer feels he has proof or at least has finally reached the point of embracing what he perceives as the truth.

Bucks Fizz is a British group that has been around for decades but proved to be most popular when first came out in the early 1980s. In fact between 1981 and 1982, they dropped three singles that topped the UK Singles Chart. And one of those was “My Camera Never Lies”, which comes from their second album, “Are You Ready”. And this is a tune which RCA Records released on 12 March 1982.

“My Camera Never Lies” was conceived by the songwriting partnership if Nichola Martin and Andy Hill, with the latter artist also producing the track.
