Oasis’ “Who Feels Love?” Lyrics Meaning

In “Who Feels Love?”, the singer (Liam Gallagher) is what can perhaps best be described as an euphoric state. Amongst the metaphors he uses in the first verse to explain this disposition are him ‘finding what he’s lost inside’, and his ‘spirit being purified’. Moreover, this positivity clearly extends outside of himself, or it is manifest in his interpersonal relationships. For instance, he concludes this section by suggesting to the addressee that they ‘take a walk outside hand in hand’.

The second verse is a bit more challenging to decipher. But it is fundamentally based on the same premise, of the singer undergoing an uplifting experience. The experience is so uplifting that his feelings seem to be outwardly palpable, as even ‘the air he breathes’ is ‘filled with all his emotions’.

Chorus of “Who Feels Love?”

And that brings us to the chorus, which is once again an expression of his exuberant state. Indeed you can tell he is feeling especially cheerful, as he is ‘thanking the sun that shines or everyone’. Or another way of looking at this statement is that his current disposition is one where he is especially appreciative just to be alive. And in terms of his blessing, he is giving a special shoutout to those who, like himself, “feel love”. Or perhaps we can say that part and parcel of acknowledging his own happiness is also rejoicing for those who are in a similar state.

In fact ‘now there’s a million years between his fantasies and fears’. This statement basically alludes to the idea that he has overcome all unfavorable parts of his personality and circumstances, with them being replaced by the vocalist finally realizing the type of individual he idealized himself to be and the life he always wanted to live.

In Conclusion

So the lyrics of this song aren’t extensive at all. Yet they have a deep meaning and universal application. For what they detail is an individual who has such a cheerful spirit that he is celebrating life as well as those who are fortunate enough to feel as he does.
