English rock band, Oasis is best remembered as one of the most commercially successful rock bands during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Formed in Manchester, 1991, the group openly uncovered the secret to their musical style as being one that was influenced to a great degree by legendary best-selling music act, The Beatles.
Some members of the band have also credited their skills and styles to the influences of bands such as The Stooges, The Velvet Underground, The Who, The Kinks, among others. Oasis has likewise influenced bands such as Deafheaven, the Killers, Coldplay, Alvvays, and some solo artists like Ryan Adams.

For an 18-year career, the British band exceeded the expectations of music critics and fans alike. They are one of the best-selling bands of all time, having sold over seventy-five million records worldwide. The band has eight number 1 charted singles and eight number 1 charted UK albums.
Between 1991 and 2009, Oasis produced seven studio albums, a single live album, five compilation albums, thirty-seven music videos, six video albums, twenty-eight singles, a single EP, and nineteen promotional singles.
The band released their record-making album just three years after their inception. The album Definitely Maybe stayed at the No. 1 spot on the UK albums chart for 2months and two weeks. The commercial success of this album on the international front made it the fifth best-selling album in the UK and the best-selling album in the US for more than half a decade. All the studio, live and video albums earned Gold &Platinum certifications
Oasis won awards and recognition from 18 eminent award organizations across the globe. They were nominated for three Grammy awards, Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group, Best Rock Song and Best Music Video, Short Form for two of their albums.
They earned six Brit awards and twelve nominations, two Ivor Novello Awards, and a nomination, as well as the Hong Kong Top Sales Music Award for Top 10 Best-Selling Foreign Albums. They have been honored with a Juno Award nomination, two Mercury Prize nominations, one MTV Video Music Award for Best Live Act in 2002 and three other nominations.
Oasis received seventeen awards and twenty-six nominations from the NME Awards, nine awards and eleven nominations from Q Awards, and an award from Silver Clef Awards in 2008.
They were named Best Rock Act from Top of the Pops Awards won an award from Vodafone Live Music Awards, two awards and two nominations from the UK Music Video Awards, and several other nominations.
The band’s second album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory sold over 22 million and is the highest-selling album to date. In total, Oasis won 45 awards and 90 nominations between 1991 and 2009.

The group disbanded in 2009.
Noel Gallagher and Oasis faced a few lawsuits for plagiarism. The group and its co-founder Noel have been sued three times. First by former musician Neil Innes (Late) and secondly by Coca-Cola with a fine of $500,000. The third lawsuit was formed around a controversy that one of the band’s songs was similar to Steve Wonder’s song “Uptight (Everything’s Alright).
Noel Gallagher sued his brother Liam in 2009, demanding a letter of apology. The lawsuit was dropped after Liam handed an apology letter.
The band’s disbandment arose from a steep and constant disagreement between the two Gallagher brothers. Prior to the official statement made by Noel on the band’s website, Oasis had canceled a number of shows and concerts.
On February 16, 2010, Liam Gallagher took the band’s Brit award on stage and threw it along with the microphone into the crowd.

Oasis has been identified and accepted as one of the biggest and highly rated bands of the late 20th Century. Some of the band members have gone on to pursue their own solo projects.
As of this writing, there has not been any attempt by the band to reunite. They however released an old recorded demo titled Don’t Stop in 2020. This demo received over one million views in less than 24 hours and peaked at number 80 on the UK Singles Chart.
