“POLTERGEIST!” by CORPSE (ft. OmenXIII)
This song (“POLTERGEIST!”), from the main vocalist’s perspective particularly, comes off a lot like a beef track. That is to say that he appears to be more or less dissing another musician(s) who also presents himself as a tough guy yet whose gangsta and success doesn’t match up to that of Corpse’s.
And concerning the title, some lyrics are based on the motif of the vocalist being someone who “came up from the grave” and stuff like that. And within context, what that statement is supposed to mean is that Corpse has proven to be a success, even though based on his past actions he shouldn’t be – or something like that.
OmenXIII takes a somewhat similar approach, i.e. putting forth that he likewise was educated in the school of hard knocks. So taking all of that into consideration, the main purpose of this song can be deduced as being a vehicle by which the vocalists tout their ruggedness. And again with the title and first couple of verses (to some degree), as with Corpse’s character they also make use of a theme based on the undead.
CORPSE
Corpse Husband is an entertainer who initially made a name for himself as an internet personality before venturing into the music industry. He has experienced notable success compared to some others who have made such a move. For instance, with “Poltergeist!” being released on 8 April 2022, just a few days prior to the writing of this post, we do not yet know how it will perform on music charts. But by the looks of things, it is already a hit in social media circles, to the point where it has encouraged Corpse to continue on with his music career. Furthermore, this song reportedly tallied in excess of a million Spotify hits in a single day.
