“Life Waster” by CORPSE

The easiest way to describe CORPSE’s “Life Waster” is as it being centered on a toxic romance between the vocalist and addressee. The thing about it though is that the former clearly recognizes that such is the case. For instance, he appears thoroughly convinced that his sweetheart regularly lies to him.

But there is not a sentiment of the vocalist wanting to get away, as one would logically expect. Instead, it’s as if Corpse is well aware that both he and his partner have issues. Indeed, this is the same artist who recently dropped an ode to “hot demon b*-ches”. So he doesn’t come off as the type who’s intimidated by a girl who, in this case for instance, has a “f*-king sickness” – one who, in his opinion, is a “life waster”. And one of the reasons is because the way he sees, they’re kindred spirit who can face the world together.

But that said, the song does seemingly conclude with the singer looking forward to the day that karma catches up with the addressee. So it’s like Corpse is faithful to his babe or at least in a sentimental position where he cannot break up with her for long. And whereas he may be accepting of her lifestyle, being convinced that he can “save her”, at the same time she is also obviously doing some things, i.e. being dishonest with Corpse, that he doesn’t like.
