“Pots And Pans” by Boldy James & The Alchemist (ft. The Cool Kids & Shorty K)

This is a rap cypher, i.e. a posse cut. And the aim of such tracks isn’t usually to stick to any specific topic but rather each rapper being tasks with delivering a dope passage. But if we were forced to derive a central theme from this song, outside of the vocalists displaying their lyrical skills they all go about presenting themselves in favorable manners. This includes being economically productive and connected on the streets. And the title of the song may be a reference to the overall motif of the project it is featured on, or it may possibly serve as a metaphor for the artists’ work ethic.

The four vocalists featured on this track – Boldy James, Shorty K and The Cool Kids (Sir Michael Rocks and Chuck Inglish) – wrote the raps themselves. And the producer of the tune is The Alchemist.

This track is featured on the deluxe edition of Boldy James and The Alchemist’s collaborative album called “The Price of Tea in China”. And it was self-released by the duo on 8 July 2020.

Both James and Alchemist have a collaboration history with Shorty K and especially with The Cool Kids, with Chuck Inglish being the cousin of James.
