“Shoot Sideways” by Conway the Machine & The Alchemist (ft. Schoolboy Q)

Fans of Conway the Machine know that when he refers to ‘shooting’, i.e. like the title of this song, then he is by all means referencing bullets from a firearm. And likewise on this track he presents himself as a gun-toter who is associated with likeminded individuals. In others words, the Machine has “killers on the loose”, being somewhat akin to a mafia boss. And along that same vein he drops a number of allusions to the idea of him also being a drug dealer. 

Another subtopic, albeit one he deals with sparingly, is his overall lyrical skill. But for the most part the purpose of this track is to let listeners know that Conway is living that hardcore-thug life. And Schoolboy Q, who holds downs the chorus, depicts himself similarly, as in an individual who ‘kills for joy’.
