While clearly dissing Dre, Snoop and their label Death Row Records, the rapper mocks at them for affronting him. In the first verse, he reveals how he actually earned money from their album, “The Chronic”, which had diss tracks targeted at him. His point is that they can say all the negative things they want but he’s still going to make money off their records because of the contract they had signed earlier.

In the second and third verses of the track, Eazy-E and Knocc Out take turns to belittle Dre by calling him out for not being a real life gangster, yet pretending to be one. He is particularly triggered by the fact that Dre was not involved in any crimes in his past and has not hustled as hard as him, yet wants to act as though he did. In the end, he tells the rapper to stay in his lane because he is not as great as he thinks he is.

Eazy-E’s feud with Dr. Dre

As anyone knowledgeable of the late 20th century rap scene could attest to, Eazy-E and Dr. Dre were once homeys alright. In fact they were members of the rap crew, N.W.A., which put the West Coast on the map. And it has been noted that they were in fact friends even before N.W.A. got started.

But eventually the relationship between them soured. There are different accounts as to what actually went down. But what it ultimately boiled down to is money, as in Dre wanting out of his contract with Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records. So on one hand it can be said the feud began with Eazy refusing to let Dre out of his contract when the Doctor decided to go solo. On the other hand, what reportedly caused this discontent to actually turn into a full-fledged beef was the infamous Suge Knight physically threatening Eazy-E and in the process successfully convincing him to release Dre.

In the aftermath of that confusion Eazy-E and Dr. Dre still had ill feelings for each other. And this is manifest in many of the songs they and their associates dropped and the things they reportedly said about each other in interviews. But true to their friendship, they did make up before Eazy-E died from AIDS. In other words, they were not the type of enemies who wanted each other dead. The primary cause of their feud was a serious financial misunderstanding.
