Facts about “Something Happened on the Way to Heaven”

Collins produced this track along with another long-time collaborator of his, Hugh Padgham.

The track was released in April 1990 in the UK. In the United States, it was released in July of that same year. It was the 3rd single from Collins’ 4th studio album “…But Seriously”.

Collins and Stuermer originally wrote this piece for the 1989 American comedy film “The War of the Roses” starring Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito and Kathleen Turner. The title of the song appears only once in the lyrics.

The song’s cover art was taken from the 1946 British film “A Matter of Life and Death”.

This track was included in Collins’ famous “Not Dead Yet” Tour.
