Steve Lacy

Steve Lacy is one cool cat in the music industry. Born in Compton, California, in 1998, this dude started making waves at a pretty young age. He’s a singer, songwriter, and – get this – he’s also pretty handy with a guitar.

Lacy is also known for being part of this funky band called The Internet. Yup, you heard that right, “The Internet”. They play this smooth blend of R&B, hip hop, and soul, and started out as part of the Odd Future collective, which also features names like Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean. So, you know he’s been around some serious talent.

But, Lacy isn’t just about being in a band. He’s got his own thing going on too. He dropped his first solo project, an EP which goes by the title “Steve Lacy’s Demo” in 2017, and followed it up with his maiden album “Apollo XXI” in 2019. And here’s the killer part: he made a lot of his early music using nothing but his iPhone. Who needs a fancy studio when you got a phone, right?

Fun fact: Steve Lacy is openly bisexual, and he’s pretty outspoken about his experiences, his identity and sexuality, which, I think, gives a lot of depth and authenticity to his music.

Below are some famous songs by Lacy:

Static

Bad Habit

Sunshine

Flower Moon

“Dark Red”
