“Superstar” by MARINA
Simply put, as Welsh singer MARINA herself has stated, “Superstar” is “a love song”. And the track basically goes into the positive aspects of the relationship between her and her lover as well as the qualities she appreciates in him.
For instance, from the onset it is apparent that this person has a romantic power over MARINA, as she was shunning lovers until getting to know him. And their relationship is not marked by role playing but rather both participants appreciating the other for who they truly are. Furthermore they suffer individually when they are separated from each other by considerable distance.
MARINA expresses appreciation for the labor they have put into the relationship, specifically the results thereof. In fact she goes on to say that this person is her “superstar”. Said differently, she looks to him for inspiration when she is feeling down.

- MARINA co-wrote “Superstar” with the members of the songwriting and music production team Captain Cuts. The team consists of Ryan Rabin, Ben Berger and Ryan McMahon. Over the years, Captain Cuts has co-written and produced songs for such big names as Halsey, Keith Urban and The Chainsmokers.
- Not only did Captain Cuts co-write this track but they also co-produced it alongside record producer Sam de Jong.
- MARINA’s management released “Superstar” on March 1, 2019. “Superstar” came out as the second single from the fourth studio album of MARINA’s musical career, Love + Fear. This album also features the song “Handmade Heaven” (which was released as the album’s first single).
- MARINA first teased this song to her fans as far back as in April of 2018. This was almost a year before she finally released it!
