Tame Impala

Australian singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Kevin Parker, started the psychedelic music project, “Tame Impala” in 2007.

Tame Impala’s lineup includes Kevin himself and the following musicians:

  • Dominic Simper
  • Jay Watson
  • Cam Avery
  • Julien Barbagallo

Tame Impala has worked under a number of record labels including the following:

  • Fiction Records 
  • Interscope Records 
  • Modular Recordings
  • Island Records Australia

The band’s debut studio album, “Lonerism” was released in October of 2012. The album was not only successful in their home country of Australia, where it received a platinum certification, it was also a global hit. It earned the group their first Grammy nomination which was for the award “Best Alternative Music Album” in 2014.

Over the years Tame Impala have been decorated with a number of awards and nominations both locally and internationally. They received a nomination for the “Best Alternative Music Album” award with their “Currents” album in 2016. The said award was eventually taken home by Alabama Shakes’ “Sound & Color.”

At the 63rd edition of the Grammys in 2021, they received another nomination for the “Best Alternative Music Album” with their “The Slow Rush” album. On the night, they got disappointed again as the award was given to Fiona Apple’s “Fetch the Bolt Cutters.”
