“One More Hour” by Tame Impala

Needless to say, there is a lot going on in the profound lyrics of Tame Impala’s “One More Hour”. And the narrative contained therein seems to be based on at least two distinct storylines. First is that the singer appears to have reached a point in his life where he has come to profound revelations concerning the future. This was spurred by him contemplating on the past and coming to the realization that his former actions were either motivated by “love” or “fun”. But now for the first time in his life, he has decided to base his efforts squarely on the acquisition of “money”.

Meanwhile the second storyline is centered on an addressee who would likely be his romantic interest. And once again looking into the future, he is anticipating spending many more fruitful moments with her. Throughout it all you could say that he is expressing a sentiment akin to taking nothing for granted. Or stated comprehensively, this track is based on the meditations of the singer. And said reflections have led him to two conclusions. First is that he must remain true to himself. And second is that he values his relationship with the female addressee.

All in all, this is a very introspective song whose primary theme centers on the narrator’s desire to the past where it belongs and focus his attention on the future.

maybe its because i was hearing this song after listening about serial killers and mass murderers, i feel like this song could very well be a confession in some way, like what ever was done was done for love and fun. love here meaning violent sexual tendencies, like extreme sadism and twisted meanings given to fun. the time racin’ means that he’s gonna get caught. the police are probably on their way and he wants to be the man he is, a violent man. the lyrics i can rage for one more hour were the words that made me think this way.
i just think this way bc of my obsession with true crime and my habits of overthinking but lemme know ur thoughts
