Writers & Producers

Its writers are Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump. And the producer is none other than 1990s’ R&B legend Babyface, who has maintained a notable presence in the industry as a behind-the-scenes musician.

Other Facts

At the behest of the record label, the reason Fall Out Boy removed the vowels from the title of this song is because the names of some of their tracks tend to be quite wordy. For example, other singles from Infinity on High include This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race and I’m Like a Lawyer with the Way I’m Always Trying to Get You Off (Me & You).

Despite its unconventional title, this song proved to be a notable hit. In addition to breaking the top 15 of the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart, it also charted in at least 15 other countries. Moreover, this track has thus far been certified platinum in the UK, Canada and Australia.

The music video to this song, which co-stars Kim Kardashian, was assembled by American director Alan Ferguson.

The multi-talented Babyface plays the mandolin on Thnks fr the Mmrs.

The line “he tastes like you, only sweeter”, as found in the chorus, is from the 2004 film Closer starring Julia Roberts.

This song has made it onto a considerable number of music-based videogames, including Boogie Superstar (2008), Guitar Hero 5 (2009) and Rock Band 3 (2010).

The Lyrics

The lyrics of this song are highly poetic, in a manner of speaking – so much so that Pete Wentz has gone out of his way to offer pretty elaborate explanations of most of them via Genius. In certain instances, he also admitted that some lines don’t have any particular meaning at all.

But what it all discernibly boils down to is the vocalist being in a relationship with this woman whom he obviously has issues with – and apparently, to some degree, vice versa. Yet it reads as if he’s addicted to the sex. And as for the bridge, its wording, combined with Wentz’s explanation, gives the impression that this may be a groupie sorta thing, i.e. the singer having adopted a lifestyle where he’s caught up in a cycle of casual sex but romances which are unfulfilling overall.
