Travis Scott’s “Escape Plan” Lyrics Meaning

Of course it is ironic – for total lack of a better word – that Travis Scott dropped a track entitled “Escape Plan” earlier on the same day eight people were killed in what is being described as a stampede at one of his concerts.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Travis Scott's Escape Plan at Lyrics.org.

And with the entertainment industry and social media being what they are, it didn’t even take a solid 24 hours before all types of conspiracy theories concerning said incident started circulating. And it ain’t like the cover art to this single is helping matters any.

But if you are the type of individual who tends to lean towards such understandings, then yes, it can be deemed conspicuous that Travis, on the same day a real-life “escape plan” was very much in order at one of his performances, came out with a track under this name.

Lyrics of “Escape Plan”

But as far as the lyrical content of this piece, it doesn’t read like anything with a hidden meaning or related to stampeding per se. Moreover, there only appears to be one reference to live performances, which is found in the chorus.

For starters, let’s first get out of the way that the title is actually symbolic. And what it symbolizes is the vocalist’s career goals. Or perhaps we can more artistically say his “escape plan” to get out of the ‘hood.

And as presented, said scheme centers on the objective of becoming like a gazillionaire. Put simply, his goal is to possess an “estate” which alone is in the “12 figure” category.

But that established, most of the lyrics don’t really have anything to do with wealth. Rather, they more squarely center on the vocalist bragging about his proficiency in the sack or sex appeal or however you want to term it.

And in that regard, he seems to be focusing on his interactions with one lady in particular. Moreover the related narrative is pretty NSFW. In it, Scott presents himself as the man in more or less every aspect of locking down a hot babe.

Reference to Live Performances

Meanwhile concerning the theoretical reference to live performances found in the chorus, it has been put forth that what Travis is speaking to in that line is the rowdy fans found at his concerts. Actually people acting unruly at Scott’s performances isn’t particularly anything new.

And just as some witnesses are implying with this most recent tragedy, these are acts that the rapper has been known to more or less encourage.

In Conclusion

Conclusively, there are some who believe that Travis is in a secret society and relatedly this song may have predicted what is being referring to as the “Astroworld Festival crowd crush”. But in order to prove that theory, it’ll take a much more in-depth study.

As it stands, if that tragedy never occurred, there isn’t anything that appears even remotely esoteric about these lyrics.

And as Troy Finner, Houston’s Police Chief, has stated, no matter how fishy things may appear to some analysts, it wouldn’t be wise to go about adhering to conspiracy theories until proper investigations are conducted.

Or stated more bluntly, even though Scott ranks amongst the rappers who have long been rumored as Satanists, going as far as to say he had a direct hand in that tragedy is currently difficult to substantiate.
