Twenty One Pilots’ “Level of Concern” Lyrics Meaning
Twenty One Pilots’ “Level of Concern” simply put is a song Tyler Joseph penned amidst the deadly global pandemic of 2020. The lyrics center on his thoughts on a number of pertinent things, including the deadly virus’ impact on the music industry and society as a whole.
And as the lyrics roll on, it becomes clear that Tyler is also apparently asking to be comforted by someone special to him as they go through these dark times together. It is believed that this person is none other than Jenna Joseph (his wife).
Tyler wrote this song while quarantining himself due to the spread of the pestilence. And the singer is acknowledging such in the lyrics. The singer himself is stressed out due to the overall situation. This is what he means by his “level of concern”, and accordingly he has expressed such to the addressee. However, this individual is obviously paying him no mind. In other words, he perceives her as someone who could minimize his anxieties yet is to some degree disinterested in doing so. And this is where the titular phrase takes on a double meaning. For in him entreating her to tell him that “they are alright” and to ‘stay in his bunker underneath the surface’, it is obvious that the type of assurance he is seeking from her is more in regards to their romance as opposed to the pandemic.
