Meaning of “Hasta Mañana”

While recounting their good old memories, the singer uses the term “Hasta Manana” which is Spanish for ‘see you tomorrow’. This expression is a less emotionally form of goodbye.

That said, the narrator tells that special person goodbye physically but wants to keep him as hers always.

She mainly hopes to keep this person in her heart forever even if they might not necessarily be physically together. Her use of the term “Viva forever” stands for significant moments in one’s life. That is to say that she is willing to wait as long as forever to get those moments back, though she admits they lost it.

In the final verse however, the singer realizes that her expectation is only a dream which could never be fulfilled. Nonetheless, she holds on to her memories of this loved one in hopes of his return.

this song reminds me of a good friend of mine (Sara) who passed away in Nov 8, 2000. She was my Angel and she was always special to me. Really kind and loving, always by my side no matter what. She passed away really young. she was just 22 yo.I always remember her and every time I hear this song and Don’t dream is over by crowded house I think of her… I really miss her and she will viva forever in my heart and soul.
