“What I Like About You” by Jonas Blue (Ft. Theresa Rex)

 “What I Like About You” is a track presented by UK music producer Jonas Blue and featuring Danish singer Theresa Rex. The song is based on Rex’s appreciation of a new love in her life and what quality in particular she appreciates about this person. Indeed it isn’t about her lover per se but rather his ability to transform her into an uninhibited individual, which is against her norm.

In fact Rex acknowledges that for her entire life, she has been “a good girl” who always made an effort to follow the rules. But now being in love with her new boo, all of that decency has apparently been thrown out the window. This is not due to her willingly giving in to such influences. In fact in addition to her friends seemingly disapproving of her new sweetheart, Rex herself seems to be making a conscientious attempt to stop loving this guy. And despite understanding that she is taking a big risk by being involved with this dude, still she can’t seem but to keep ‘letting him in’.

So now this romance is turning her into a different person. Instead of being a reserved individual, Rex is now “bad” and doing naughty things like “running all the red lights”, which is likely an allusion to her not giving a damn about rules in general. 

Indeed her dad doesn’t approve of this relationship, and her mom is worried by some of her actions.  But ultimately, despite basically agreeing that all of these warnings against her relationship are valid, she is more or less powerless to stop the love she feels for her boyfriend.
