“I Refuse” by Aaliyah
On Aaliyah’s “I Refuse”, the songstress has reached a point where she is ‘refusing’ to continue being emotionally disturbed by a dead romantic relationship. Her ex in said relationship is who she is addressing. And whereas she admits she made mistakes herself, ultimately the singer chalks up the disintegration of their union to his domineering personality.
All in all, Aaliyah used to be greatly disturbed by a past romance but is now ‘refusing’ to continue letting it bother her.
Writing Credits
The producer of “I Refuse” is J-Dub. And he also co-wrote alongside one of Aaliyah’s regular collaborators, Static Major (1974-2008). And according to J-Dub, they basically created it in a single night.
Release Date
