Ashanti

Ashanti is a singer who epitomizes turn-of-the-century American-female R&B. There are many hits which she has been a part of. Amongst her more-notable solo efforts are “Foolish” (2002) and “Only U” (2004). And she was a feature on even bigger tracks, such as the following:

  • Fat Joe’s 2002 classic “What’s Luv“.

Ashanti was born on Long Island, New York to parents who both had experience in the entertainment field. Her name is derived from a famous empire present in Ghana, West Africa.

She actually began acting professionally before her singing career took off. And throughout the years, she has built up a relatively-impressive filmography. Ashanti has also established herself as a model and has proven to be especially popular in that regard on social media, even after declining in popularity as a singer.

Yet and still, she will likely always be known first and foremost as a musician and one of the core members of Murder Inc., one of the top music labels of the early 2000s. And as an interesting side note, it has been pointed out that she actually dated fellow music star Nelly from around 2003 to 2014.
