“Entertain Me” by Ylona Garcia
The logical presumption, based on the nature of the lyrics of Ylona Garcia’s “Entertain Me”, is that the vocalist is addressing a romantic interest. And to make a long story short, dude comes off as being over confident in his game just knowing that he’s going to have his way with Ylona.
But, you know how they say that a woman can look at a guy one time and instantly know whether she’s going to give him action or not? Well along a similar vein, the vocalist has apparently already decided that she doesn’t want to go there with the addressee. But the latter, with his inflated ego and all, is unable to pick up on that fact.
So while he’s being deceitful in the name of seducing her, Ylona is playing a game of her own. And as inferred, she is leading him on, making dude believe he actually has a chance to reach the promise land. But why is the vocalist doing this? The primary reason she is doing this is because his antics ‘entertain her’, as implied by the title (“Entertain Me”).
So conclusively, this is sort of a female empowerment song. The young lady at hand has taken a potentially upsetting situation – i.e. a playa trying to con her – and flipped it into one that is beneficial to her own amusement.
Who is Ylona Garcia?
Ylona Garcia is an entertainer, primarily a musician who was born in Sydney, Australia in 2002. Garcia, who is of Filipino descent, grew up in Australia. She made a name for herself as part of a reality TV show called Pinoy Big Brother back in 2015. She would have been about 13 years old when she participated in the aforementioned reality show, considering that she is 19 as of the dropping of this rack (“Entertain Me”).
And she ventured into the music industry shortly thereafter, with her first EP, “My Name Is Ylona Garcia”, coming out in 2016. And since then Garcia has dropped a few singles to local, i.e. Filipino, success.
Facts about “Entertain Me”
“Entertain Me” was put out by 88rising on 5 January 2022. 88rising is a label that specializes in Asian-American musicians and who Ylona Garcia signed with circa early 2021.
Whereas she already enjoys an established celebrity status on social media, this track represents a more vigorous foray on Ylona’s behalf to break into the international market.
The release of this track coincided with the introduction of the first Filipino character into Valorant, a Riot Games’ franchise. In other words, “Entertain Me” was used to promote said character, who by the way is called Neon.
The vocalist wrote this song alongside David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii. And those latter two artists, who are collectively known as DNA Songs, also produced the track.
As of this writing, Ylona has well over 4,000,000 followers on Instagram.
