The track was produced by DameDame, which is reportedly a pair of London-based musicians who, as it currently stands, is difficult to track down information on. Jorja Smith co-wrote “Go Go Go”, in that regard working alongside Barbara Boko and Edith Nelson, both of whom are amongst her regular behind-the-scenes’ collaborators.

The Lyrics of “GO GO GO”

Most simply put, this is a breakup song. Therefore the person who is being told to “go go go”, i.e. vehemently being encouraged to bounce, is the addressee.

And the lyrics aren’t really descriptive concerning Jorja’s decision to cut dude off. The one thing the vocalist does accuse the person she’s singing to of is being someone who “like(s) to kiss and tell about it all”. Or put otherwise, he talks too much about the romantic side of their relationship for her liking.

As generally understood, when someone is accused of having this personality trait, i.e. ‘kissing and telling’, that would perhaps mean that they’re gossiping to their friends or publicizing the relationship even though the other party doesn’t want them to.

But note that according to Google (based on the Oxford definition of the term), “kiss and tell” is especially used to refer to people who talk about their sexual encounters with a celebrity to the media. To note, Jorja Smith is in fact famous. And the way she has described this song does sorta imply that it may be based on her personal experience. But that said, as far as public knowledge goes, she doesn’t have much of a dating history to speak of.

“I close my eyes, don’t wake me no more
I break the ties, I’m gone for good now
Now, now, now-now, now, now, now
Now, now, now-now, now
I close my eyes, don’t wake me no more
I break the ties, I’m gone for good now
Now, now, now-now, now, now, now
Now, now, now-now, now, now-now-now-now-now”

The lyrics of this piece are about as straightforward as you’d likely get from a song these days. But they don’t harp on why the vocalist is dumping the addressee. Rather, Jorja acknowledges that whereas she wants to quit the relationship, the other party doesn’t.

As portrayed, the latter also comes off as being the emotionally-weaker one in this equation.

So, presumably sympathetically, Smith is letting the addressee know that her lack of interest isn’t due to any fault of his own, you know, besides for the whole “kiss and tell” thing. Instead, it’s more as if she has simply come to realize that she’s not feeling him like that.

Or going back to Jorja’s explanation of this track, she described it as “kind of a F-you song”, with the person being told to f*-k off obviously being the addressee.
