Hayley Williams’ “Cinnamon” Lyrics Meaning

“Cinnamon” starts off, as Hayley Williams describes it, as an ‘ode to her home’. In other words we are given details concerning the intimate aspects of the singer’s home life. For instance, we know that she likes eating her “breakfast in the nude”, and she has a dog whom she sometimes chats with.  Also her habitation is very “feminine” – for instance smelling like “citrus and cinnamon”.

So in that regard, we know the meaning behind the title of this song. But in further alluding to the narrator’s femininity, “cinnamon” can also be said to be a metaphor for her romantic charms. And as such, she is not privy in letting a man into her home – which is symbolic of her life – for two reasons.  One is that, as alluded to earlier, she is already content with being alone.  And second is said dude would become so addicted to her “cinnamon” that he would never be able to leave her at peace.
