“HOLIDAY” by Lil Nas X

The best way to describe “HOLIDAY” is as Lil Nas X’s version of a braggadocious song.  Although all things considered it is supposed to be Christmas-themed, there are no direct references to that particular occasion. Rather the word “holiday”, as used throughout, points more to the notion of the vocalist having the reason and resources to in fact celebrate big.

Lil Nas X has become one of the most-successful musicians ever via the accomplishments of just one song, 2019’s Old Town Road. And resultantly he is able to make a number of references to that track amidst his boastings. Moreover, the rapper had more or less shocked the world by coming out as a gay a little over a year ago, at the peak of his Old Town Road success. And the most-notable line in Holiday has proven to be one in which he notes a personal sexual preference in terms of his homosexuality. And this is despite the track having a heterosexual undertone also.
