“Thats What I Want” by Lil Nas X

Most simply explained, “Thats What I Want” is based on the vocalist’s desire to find that special someone in his life. Or put differently, ‘what he wants’ is someone to love and where the feelings between the two of them will be reciprocal.

And yes, some of the lyrics are openly gay which, even at this juncture in industry history, may take some listeners some getting used to. But underneath the tale of Nas X mutually admiring a homo-thug in the first verse, this piece more or less reads like any other love song based on the premise as detailed above.

For instance, the second verse doesn’t use any type of gender pronouns whatsoever. And what the vocalist is saying comprehensively is that yes, he’s obviously interested in the sexual side of romance. But outside of the good lovin’, his only other requirement is that the affection between him and his ideal partner is mutually shared. Or, put into layman’s terms, the singer is longing for true love.

So what does: “If he got the G or the B” mean?

    • Anonymous says:

It’s Nas wondering what the sexuality of the “afro black boy” with the gold teeth is. “If he got the G or the B” is if he’s straight or gay.

If he’s got the gay or the bi doesn’t make sense. One doesn’t have the gay or the bi, one is gay or bi. It has to be drugs

Wondering if he’s gay or bi makes perfect sense in the context of the song and the video, even if it’s not grammatically perfect. A drug reference makes absolutely no sense.

no its just plainly saying if hes got a girlfriend/boyfriend or partner. the term B in slang is for a loved one. and G stands for gangsta meaning bad boy .
