“Julien” by Carly Rae Jepsen

This track is based on a heartbreak that Carly Rae Jepsen is going through. It has been postulated that she is especially reeling due to blaming this unenviable emotional state on her own actions. But according to the lyrics of the song, that does not necessarily seem to be the case. However, it should be noted that she does admit that her indecisiveness in taking the next step in the relationship has contributed to its dissolution.

Thus throughout the track, it is apparent that Carly is suffering from perpetual depression due to losing “Julien”. In fact she states that she is “haunted” by memories of the time they spent together. Since their breakup, she has “been all alone, on (her) own” literally praying for the return of her boo.

Ultimately, the sentiment being expressed is a desire by the singer for Julien to return to her arms. If not (based on the lyrics of the track) there is no indication that the singer will ever be able to get over his absence.
