“Love Sosa” by Chief Keef

For starters, “Sosa” is actually one of Chief Keef’s nicknames. And what that moniker is a reference to is one “Alejandro Sosa”, a fictional drug kingpin as featured on Al Pacino’s gangster classic, “Scarface”.

So with that in mind, the message the title is meant to relay, in full, is “these b–ches love Sosa”. In other words, women really dig Chief Keef.

But that noted, the lyrical focus isn’t really on the rapper’s sexual conquest or anything like that. Rather it features him, in one way or another, lyrically verifying the idea that he is a successful street hustler. For instance, amongst Chief’s boasts, Keef gives a couple of shoutouts to O Block, the most infamous ‘hood in Chicago as far as the hip-hop community is concerned.

And all of the associated implications, such as him being a gun-toter, come along with that acknowledgement. But what the vocalist’s primary focus really appears to be on mocking his rivals for being “broke”, while Chief and his homeys are doing it big.

Chief Keef and “Love Sosa”

Chief Keef is a rapper who basically owes his come-up to his first single, “I Don’t Like” (2012). This song ended up being remixed by Kanye West, a more popular hip-hop artist who is also from the Windy City.

In recent years Keef has been making headlines mostly in the gossip/beef circuit, not for his music. But “Love Sosa”, which was released on 18 October 2012, dates back to “Finally Rich”, Chief’s debut studio album.

“Love Sosa”, which was Keef’s second single overall, is also one of his biggest hits, having been certified platinum in the United States. And upon release, it also proved to be a personal favorite of A+ list rapper Drake.

Another extremely-popular celebrity who has endorsed Keef and “Love Sosa” in particular is NFL legend Tom Brady.

This track was put out by Interscope Records alongside Glory Boyz Entertainment, an imprint of Interscope that was founded by Keef.

Love Chop is another musician from Chicago. He produced and co-wrote this track, with the other writer being Keef.

The director of this track’s music video is Duan “DGainz” Gaines.
