Meaning of “Arrest the President” by Ice Cube

“Arrest the President” is a hip hop track released by American rapper Ice Cube in 2018. This track, which is very politically charged, primarily takes aim at American President Donald Trump. Despite the fact that in the lyrics, Ice Cube doesn’t call Trump by name, it is abundantly clear he is referring to him.

Throughout this anti-Donald Trump song, Cube throws several jabs at the 45th president of the United States. In doing so, he makes references to some of Trump’s major scandals, including his alleged collusion with Russia to tamper with the 2016 United States elections. He goes as far as claiming that Trump is nothing but “Russian Intelligence”.

As if that wasn’t enough, Cube goes ahead to mock Trump on multiple occasions. For example, he makes mockery at Trump’s bizarre orange skin by telling the world that the new white is orange.

In the chorus, Cube drops the most prominent line of the song: “Arrest the President, you got the evidence“. Here, he is probably talking directly to Robert Mueller (the head of the Special Counsel in charge of investigating Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia in the 2016 elections). Cube is telling the authorities to waste no more time in arresting Trump since they have enough evidence to do so.

That said, it is important to note that Cube might have also been using the words “arrest” metaphorically. However, in all, we can confidently conclude that Cube wrote this song as a protest against Donald Trump.
