Meaning of “Glitter” by 070 Shake

“Glitter” is a very-artistic track by a rapper, 070 Shake, who appears to be on the way to becoming a major player in the game. Indeed the song in and of itself is largely about her come up. But it also deals with more-somber issues, such as the depression that has had a long-standing presence in her life.

The intro of the track deals with some deep symbolism, the intricacies of which is probably best left untouched for fear of misinterpretation. However, what it basically seems to boil down to is Shake acknowledging her being ‘before she even existed’. As such, the succeeding pre-chorus then finds her asking existential questions such as her overall dedication to being a famous artist as well as her desire to even live.

But one thing that does become apparent in the chorus is that her life is now better than it had been prior. For instance, she has met some people who helped big her up. Indeed overall her disposition is more positive. Indeed the main purpose of this track is for her to spread “this glitter” that she possesses, which within the context of the chorus and song in general is most likely an allusion to her aforementioned positivity.

The singular verse of the song finds Shake recounting her past. For example, she brings up the fact that she has shed “tears” throughout the “years”. It also seems that during that period, no one really cared, but now that she’ is blowing up, people are interested in every aspect of her life. And in the present day, she is dedicated to keeping herself mentally stable and rediscovering who she truly is. However, she then goes into a mini tirade stating that she has lost something, most likely herself. This may be due to actions such as Shake attempting to hide from reality through alcohol consumption.

The track ultimately ends with Shake once again expressing a desire to spread “this glitter”. She also continually references the person she is singing to as a “friend”, thus making friendship another notable theme of the song.
