“Meant to Be” by TLC
TLC’s “Meant to Be” is based on the vocalist and addressee being predestined collaborators, if you will. And it was written specifically for a TLC anniversary event, thus alluding to the ladies’ professional union. However, as presented, the lyrics are not relationship-specific per se and can easily be applied to, say a romance where the parties involved are convinced they are soulmates.
But beyond that, what the song ultimately speaks to is a strong sense of commitment between the vocalist and addressee, one which the former knew was bound to be from the time they met.
