I don’t think it’s about a man pleading with his lover to give him one more chance. I think it’s about a guy who is in love with a woman who does not love him back. The “one more night” is referring to giving him one more night to get up the nerve to tell her how he feels. The “I can’t wait forever” is him saying that, eventually he will stop waiting and tell her. “I know there’ll never be a time you’ll ever feel the same” – the man admits that he knows she probably will never love him the way he loves her, but he still holds out hope that she may someday change her mind, and he’ll be there still if she does.

I think it’s about a woman he loves who also loves him too but won’t commit and he’s been waiting so long suffering and can’t wait forever so he will just take one more night and move on. He’ll be there if she changes her mind.
