“Phone Calls And Emails” by Tyler Childers

On “Phone Calls and Emails”, we find Tyler Childers stuck in the unenviable predicament of continually reaching out to someone who he obviously has strong feelings for via a ‘bombardment’ of “phone call and emails”, but said individual, the addressee, not responding.

And it doesn’t appear that this person is in any type of emergency, or at least Tyler is more or less convinced that he or she is deliberately ignoring him, i.e. being aware that he has been reaching out.

So now, even though it isn’t his heart’s desire, Childers has reached a point where he would rather the addressee, whom he’s convinced is a mutual ‘friend’, tell him to bug off, if that’s what they want, instead of ignoring him.

“We used to talk daily
You’d call to check in
I’d check in on you, I considered us friends
Now I’m second-guessin’
What I thought to be true
With these phone calls and emails
I’m sendin’ to you”

This track was written by Tyler Childers, and he produced it with his crew, The Food Stamps.

The labels behind “Phone Calls and Emails” are RCA Records and Hickman Holler Records.

This track hit the marketplace on 8 September 2023, alongside the rest of the album it is featured on, which is Tyler Childers’ “Rustin’ in the Rain”.

Phone Calls And Emails

All in all, Tyler is in his feelings all because someone he loves is not returning his “phone calls and emails”. Feeling ignored is hard. You send messages and wait. Hours pass, then days. No reply comes. You start to worry. Did you say something wrong? You check your phone often. Each time, there’s disappointment. Your mind races with thoughts. You feel sad and anxious. You just want to hear from them. It feels like a rejection. It hurts deep inside. You wish for a response, any response. It would mean so much. A simple “hello” would do. But the silence continues. It’s really tough. You feel alone. The waiting is painful. It’s a tough spot to be in.
