“Realize” by AC/DC

The lyrics of AC/DC’s “Realize” read like one of those types of songs in which the artists are touting their ability to create effective music. The word “realize” is used in different contexts. However, its main utilization comes in the form of the singer, Brian Johnson, ‘making the listener realize’ that he and his bandmates are good musicians. And the way they go about doing so is by coming out with a song like this which sends “chills up and down your spine” and ‘make you shake it up and down’. And the implied premise is that AC/DC knows by this point in time that they are aged rockers. However, they are celebrating the fact that they are still able to get the party jumping, so to speak.

Sony Entertainment and Ledseplein Presse deemed this tune worthy enough to serve as the second single from AC/DC’s Power Up album. And they issued it as such on 11 November 2020. “Shot in the Dark” was the first single AC/DC released from the project.

The writers of this song are AC/DC core members Angus Young and his brother, the late Malcolm Young. Angus attributed the idea for the tune to Malcolm. And he also went on to explain that he and the band were able to lay it down in “only a couple of takes”.
