“They Don’t Love It” by Jack Harlow

“They Don’t Love It” came out on 23 April 2023 as part of Jack Harlow’s album “Jackman”, also being issued that same day as the lead single from the project. This is a tune that Jack wrote with Rev. Timothy Wright (1947-2009) and Hollywood Cole, the latter also being the track’s producer.

The former was in fact a pastor and furthermore gospel singer who passed away over 10 years ago, and it isn’t abundantly clear why he is credited as a co-writer.

“They Don’t Love It” was put out through Atlantic Records and Atlanta-based label Generation Now.  Moreover, it made headlines upon release as therein, Harlow alludes to being the second-greatest White rapper ever, after Eminem of course. And it has been pointed out that in doing so, he has indirectly taken a shot against the likes of MGK and Action Bronson.

Lyrics of “They Don’t Love It”

Well actually, what Jack says in the above regard is that he’s “striving to be the most-dominant ever, the hardest white boy since [Eminem]”. So as far as Harlow is concerned, that’s still a goal he’s working towards, and Harlow isn’t making that statement in terms of his present standing.

But that said, it is sorta common for media outlets to either misinterpret rap lyrics or misconstrue them in the name of clickbait when it comes to these really-popular emcees.

So with that above aspiration in mind, what these lyrics actually focus on is Harlow making an effort to up his game the way he sees fit. In other words he is trying to make himself harder, not only physically but also in terms of becoming an “unbreakable” artist and man, not only to do his fam right but also for the cause of reppin’ his ‘hood.

Indeed, Jack’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky isn’t really on the map as far the world of hip-hop is concerned. So in closing out the second verse, it seems as if Harlow had made it his goal to take Louisville to the next level, himself coming after artists such as Bryson Tiller and EST Gee.

So with all of that in mind, you won’t find this rapper focusing on the frills or extra sh*t. Instead, Jack has opted to take the “rough” road towards becoming a historical player in the game.

“‘Cause they don’t love it, they don’t love it
They don’t love it, they don’t love it
They don’t love it, they don’t love it”
