“Two More Years” by Bloc Party

On Bloc Party’s “Two More Years”, Kele is addressing a romantic interest. More to the point their relationship has apparently run its course, and as such both parties are seemingly very much looking forward to its termination. However, for some unspecified reason, they cannot call it quits just yet. Rather, it seems there are “two more years” left until they can officially and finally end it. So the singer is telling the addressee to “hold on” until such time transpires.

Or another way of looking at it is that they are going through some type of unfavorable situation which will last for another couple of years. Either way the intended effect, according to Kele Okereke, is to relay a feeling of “loss and heartbreak”, meaning the first explanation is more likely true.
