“Too Much” by Carly Rae Jepsen

This song is based on the premise that when Carly Rae does something, she does it big. Or the way she phrases it, she puts “too much” energy behind whatever she may find herself doing, whether it be physical, emotional or psychological.

Thus she is basically warning a romantic interest not to light the match if he can’t stand the fire. Simply put, she’s telling him that once she falls in love with him, she is going to put her absolute all into the relationship and is obviously afraid such will overwhelm him. But that being said, she is definitely “down” with the prospect of getting deeply involved with this individual. And she clearly wants him to know that if he is “down” also – and if things go right – then he will have a true firebrand on his hands.
