“Afterglow” by Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran’s “Afterglow” is a undoubtedly a love song. The addressee would logically be Ed’s wife as of 2019, Cherry Seaborn. And we can come to this conclusion not only due to the fact that she is the singer’s real-life soulmate. But also because the lyrics have a strong winter theme. Said setting can allude to the holiday season, i.e. the time of the year in which this track was intentionally released. Or, it can also point to the fact that Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn actually gave birth to their first child in Antarctica, a continent widely known to be covered in snow. And as far as the tune’s title, it is fundamentally a metaphor for how much the singer loves the addressee.
