“Be A Light” by Thomas Rhett (ft. Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin & Keith Urban)

For the sake of simplicity, we can say that the titular “light” in this song (“Be A Light”) is actually synonymous with positivity. Or stated differently, the singers are admonishing the audience to be positive in various ways. And they are giving this instruction within the specific context of recognizing that we live in a troubled world filled with “hate”, “war” and “doubt”. So basically, they are putting the onus on the individual to counteract these realities by instead exhibiting peace, love and faith.

Moreover they do not feel that now is the time for good-hearted people to shy away, but rather they should make an effort to “shine” and “be a light” during these “dark” times.  So basically, Thomas Rhett and co. want individuals to step up and negate many of the troubling issues we deal with in the present day.

“In a world full of hate, be a light”

FYI

Rhett actually penned this song a year before he decided to release it. And he did drop it at this particular time (March 2020) due to the outbreak of the 2020 pandemic. In fact the proceeds generated from this fund are being donated to a coronavirus-related relief fund.
