“Come On, Let’s Go” by Tyler, The Creator & Nigo

In reality “Come On, Let’s Go” is actually a Tyler, the Creator solo track. He uses his typical semi-comedic style to address a romantic interest who, as sorta implied by the title, is taking too long to get ready for a date.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Tyler, The Creator & Nigo's Tyler, The Creator & Nigo at Lyrics.org.

More specifically, we find the vocalist “impatiently waiting” outside of her apartment. And believe it or not that’s actually what the entire narrative of this song, music video and all, is based on. But beyond that, the lyrics (and video imagery) feature typical rap wealth-based braggadocio in a roundabout way, i.e. the vocalist letting his girlfriend know that her dilly-dallying may end up costing him more bucks than the mucho dollars he has already spent in the name of making this date special.

So perhaps in a way this can be classified as a love song since it sports a romantic undertone, but classifying it as such may also be a stretch. Instead, it’d be more realistic to conclude that Nigo and co. dropped this song track more for its entertainment value and due the fact that the main vocalist is an A list musician. Or perhaps they really do want to let ladies know that taking too long to get ready for a date can indeed prove annoying.

Tyler, the Creator co-wrote and co-produced this track, in addition to directing its music video. The other writer/producer of this joint is Pharrell Williams. Both artists have an established collaboration history between themselves. By the looks of things, Pharrell is also the executive producer of “I Know Nigo!”.

Who is Nigo?

It appears that Nigo doesn’t contribute vocally nor directly musically to this song. According to Genius, he is credited with the “music production” of “Come On, Let’s Go”, though not as an actual producer of the track. So it would seem that the reason he stands as a co-headliner is simply because this song is featured on his album, “I Know Nigo!”, which Republic Records and Victor Victor Worldwide made public on 25 March 2022.

In fact every track on the album’s playlist is a collaboration between Nigo and a more popular rapper (or crew). For the record, Tyler makes an appearance on another song therein entitled “Lost and Found Freestyle 2019”.

Nigo is a hip-hop musician from Japan whose primary profession is being a fashion designer. As of the dropping of this track, he is 51 years of age, being a square two decades older than Tyler, the Creator. But apparently, the reason Nigo has been afforded the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of Tyler and Pharrell, despite being a musician that most of us probably never heard of, is because he is actually the founder of a very-successful clothing line called A Bathing Ape (aka “Bape”). This brand has proven particularly popular in hip-hop circles

To note, Nigo also founded a streetwear label with Pharrell back in the early aughts known as Billionaire Boys Club.

That said, it doesn’t look like Nigo has been as dedicated to his musical pursuits. For instance, his last album, “Nigo Presents: Return of the Ape Sounds”, came out all the way back in 2005. But he has remained part of a rap crew known as the Teriyaki Boyz (who also appear on “I Know Nigo!”) throughout the years. However, their most-recent album dates back to 2009’s “Serious Japanese”.
