“Dear Diary” by Bring Me The Horizon

The song makes several references to the video game Resident Evil and the Keeper’s Diary which contains a description written by a researcher about the T-virus infection while he undergoes the process himself and dies in the end with the last words, “Itchy. Tasty”.

As seen in the lyrics, the writer describes the Coronavirus pandemic which took place around the time the song was written. He sings about the problems surrounding the COVID-19 epidemic, including hearing bad news of the infection rates as well as racism and violence issues. The singer documents how they’re bored because they had to go through quarantine, isolating themselves from others and how they feel physically uncomfortable due to the nature of the infection.

The song ends with a paradox of how people predicted the disease would end the human race, when it somehow never proved to be the end of the world.
