Anitta’s “Envolver” Lyrics Meaning

Perhaps the best way to describe Anitta’s “Envolver” is as a sex-based dance song and one that is set in a secluded part of a nightclub. The stylistic leanings of contemporary Latin American musicians like Anitta have been heavily influenced by a brand of Jamaican music known as dancehall reggae (as implied when the singer mentions “dembow” in the pre-chorus).

One of the main selling points of dancehall reggae has been what is traditionally referred to as whining though in more recent times as booty-grinding.

Booty-grinding is when, while dancing, a woman gyrates her backside against a male’s crotch, basically emulating sex in the process.

The Lyrics of “Envolver”

Most notably, these lyrics feature the vocalist telling the addressee that she is so attracted to him and effective in this style (botty-grinding) that she will make him “come in five minutes”. Interesting to note is that you may find translations of this song with “come” spelled C-O-M-E. However, we all know what she means! Anitta is basically talking about gyrating on the dude so effectually that she quickly causes him to shoot his load, even though they are not actually having sex.

With that in mind, yes, this can very much be deemed as an adult outing. The lyrics aren’t overly raunchy when compared to some other tracks coming out these days. But at the same time, the lingo utilized is quite frank. For instance, the vocalist has no qualms revealing that she is looking forward to a night of “sex and alcohol” with the addressee.

And once you navigate yourself through all of the NSFW references, what we are dealing with here, most simply put, is a lust song. It’s clear that the vocalist has genuine feelings for the addressee. However, it is also implied that she is not looking to get seriously involved with him.

In fact the title of this track actually translates to the verb “to involve”. And what Anitta seems to be saying in context is something like, again being as simple as possible, what she is actually looking forward to is a brief dance-sex relationship with the addressee.
